ParadiseCrackedis a rather interesting mixture of a cyberpunk RPG and X COMesquetactical combat. All movement etc is done in an X COM likeinterface,round based and everything, but the game features dialoguewith NPCs,quests and everything.The background setting portrays theworld as anoverpopulated, massively polluted remnant of what it oncewas. Forhundreds of years humans have lived in a utopia designed byasupercomputer called the
CyberBrain. However, living in paradise has side effects: human IQ is dropping dramatically, the
birth rate is dropping, and humans are in danger of becoming extinct. People started hanging around
cyberspace more and more, trying to escape from the real world but on the other hand, this results
inatotal lack of technological or evolutionary progress for mankindwhoneeds new inventions if everyone can have whatever they wantincyberspace
The player controls a hacker which stumbles into some odd data in a high security zone of the all
encompassing cyberspace and is started off with the police raiding his apartment moments later
Playerswilluse automatic pistols, rifles, grenade launchers, rocketlaunchers,armored battle suits, and performance enhancing cyberimplants. A nonlinear series of missions allows users to choose theirnext assignment,while the gameplay is presented with a floating camera.The interactiveenvironments are filled with destroyable objects likewindowpanes, andcharacters bleed, then fall unconscious.
